Employer Designation

Employer Designation

The Employer designation process is mandatory for all employers who wish to participate in RCIP. This process is designed to ensure that only eligible employers are able to use the program. With that in mind, the employer designation process requires employers to supply business documents, provide detailed information and attest to following the rules of the program. If an employer fails to provide the information requested, or is determined to be ineligible, they will not be able to access the program.

The Process

Step 1 – Complete the Training Modules

IRCC Employer Onboarding Training / Formation sur l’intégration des employeurs d’IRCC

Building Welcoming Workplaces Training (Intercultural Competency Training)  / Créer un environnement de travail accueillant (formation en matière de compétences interculturelles)

It is important for employers to understand that completing the IRCC training does not engendered eligibility, it simply means that employers have completed one aspect of the designation process.

Step 2 – Contact RCIP

Employers who have completed the mandatory IRCC training will contact the RCIP team by reaching out to Geetika Kohli at geetikak@futuresbc.com and requesting the Employer Designation Application (EDA) form.

Step 3 – Submit your Application (EDA)

Upon the commencement of the Employer Designation process on May 1, 2025, employers will submit their completed EDA to Geetika Kohli at geetikak@futuresbc.com. The EDA will be reviewed by the RCIP staff within 2 weeks of its reception.

Step 4 – Receive your Designation number

Employers who have been approved for designation will receive an Employer Designation Number. This number is unique to your business and will remain the same for the duration of the pilot unless otherwise specified. It is important for employers to remember this number as it will be needed to access the RCIP Employer Portal and when submitting requests to the RCIP team.

Step 5 – RCIP Employer Platform

Once an employer has received their designation number, they will be able to create their employer profile on the RCIP Employer Platform. This platform is the main way employers engage with the pilot and it is where all applications for recommendation will be submitted. Please go to the link below to create your profile.

De-Designation of Employers

Designated employers may lose their designation status and thus be ineligible to utilize the program. Employers may be de-designated for the following reasons:

  • Fraud or misrepresentation
  • Violation of federal or provincial laws

The de-designation process is explained in detail in the Program Integrity Policy under the ‘Resources and Policies’ tab.

It is important to note that de-designation only occurs when an employer has been found in violation of the Program Integrity Policy or Federal and Provincial laws, and has been informed of the de-designation in writing. Employers who have become ineligible due to a change in priority NOC codes or sectors, or those employers who are inactive, do not become de-designated and as such, they will retain their designation number for future use.
